How old do I have to be to get a tattoo? The law states you must be 18 years of age or older to get a tattoo. Eleventh Hour operates under the 'Challenge 25' policy so if you are asked to, you must bring a valid form of photo identification with you to your appointment. Acceptable forms of ID include; passport, driving license (both provisional and full), age UK card. ID that does not have your date of birth, your photo, or is not the original document (i.e a photocopy) will not be accepted. If you are unsure your ID will be accepted please do not hesitate to contact us.

Do tattoos hurt?Yes. Getting a tattoo requires the artist to break the skin so there will always be an element of pain involved, but some areas hurt more than others. There are several things you can do before your appointment to ensure you are as comfortable as you can be during the session. Practice some breathing techniques, it sounds a bit silly but oxygen is one of natures greatest pain relievers and if you can learn to breathe properly it will be a great help when dealing with the pain. Make sure you have a good breakfast in the morning, getting tattooed on an empty stomach is not a pleasant experience! Bring some snacks with you too, chocolate/sweets and a bottle of full sugar coke as these will help keep your blood sugar levels topped up and prevent you from feeling faint. If you are booked in for a full day session we tend to stop for lunch halfway through the session which is approx. 30 minutes and this will give you time to leave the studio to get something more substantial to eat than a bar of chocolate. Make sure you wear appropritae clothing for the appointment, if you're wearing a playsuit and you're getting a tattoo on your thigh you will essentially have to undress for the artist to be able to tattoo you. Also wear comfortable clothing, getting tattooed is an uncomfortable experience at best so wearing clothes you'd paint the town red in will exasperate that feeling. This is the one place in town you won't be turned away for wearing trackies.

Can I bring a friend with me?Unfortunately with current Covid guidelines in place, to ensure social distancing and the Rule Of 6 is in place we cannot allow anybody other to those attending an appointment to enter the studio. If you wish to get pierced we can usually accomodate you on the same day, but please ring ahead or contact us online to avoid disappointment. As soon as the Covid guildelines change an update will be made.

How does the booking process work?Contact us using the form on the 'Contact' section. Include your name, email address and a brief description of the tattoo you would like. Include a rough size in CM, placement (where you would like the tattoo to go) and whether you would like the tattoo to be colour or black and grey (if applicable). Once we recieve your form we will contact you via email to discuss the details of your tattoo in more depth and arrange an appointment. The artist will be able to give you a quote for your tattoo and to book in we require a deposit of £20 per hour you're booked in for. Your deposit can be paid via Bank Transfer, the details of which will be given to you just before the booking is confirmed. Once we have recieved your deposit we will contact you to confirm and ask for a contact number, as we do courtesy calls the day before your appointment to confirm you can still attend. Your design will be ready in time for your appointment, it will not be sent to you beforehand. If any changes need to be made to the design the artist will do so before starting the tattoo.

What if I don't like the design? If there are elements of the design you aren't keen on, your artist will work with you before the start of the tattoo to change the design. 99% of the time there is more than enough time before the appointment to change parts of the design, but in the event that you do not like the design at all and the artist does not have enough time before the appointment to redraw it, your appointment will be moved to a later date and your deposit will not be affected by this reschedule.
-
What if I need to cancel or rearrange my appointment for a later date?We require a minimum of 48hrs notice to rearrange an appointment. If enough notice has been given your deposit will be moved to the new date agreed upon by your artist. If we recieve less than 48hrs notice your deposit will be forfeited and become non-refunable, should you wish to move your appointment you will have to pay a new deposit. The studio has a no refunds policy in regards to cancellations.

I currently have a medical condition or am taking medication, will this stop me from getting tattooed?"Honestly it depends entirely on the medication you are taking and why you are taking it. If you are taking medication or have any current health issues you must declare this to your artist before they book you in. In some cases we require a GP letter to confirm that your health will not be adversely affected whilst getting a tattoo or during the healing process as a result of the medication you are taking or your health issue. In some cases we will be unable to tattoo you, but if you have any questions or concerns regarding this please get in touch.

I have a tattoo I don't like, do you do cover ups?"Yes. If you would like an old tattoo covered we ideally require a face to face consultation so the artist can get clear photos of the current tattoo and you can discuss what you would like. The consultation can take up to 20 minutes, and you will need to bring some ideas of what you would like the new tattoo to be. If attending a face to face appointment is not possible due to geographical resrictions please email us clear photos in good daylight of your tattoo so we have as true a representation of your current tattoo as possible. When looking for ideas don't worry about wether you think it will work as a cover up, your artist will be able to tell you this and most of the time will be able to work with an idea. Look for something you know you will be happy with in years to come because covering up a cover up is a lot of work! In some cases we may be unable to work with your old tattoo, this could be because it is too dark or is heavily scarred. If this is the case we would suggest seeking a laser removal technician, who will be able to lighten the tattoo to the point it can be worked with, and there are also some lotions available that help settle and reduce heavy scarring which we can talk you through.
